The 2024 Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC) Arbitrators and Mediators Conference (Hong Kong Session) was successfully held in Hong Kong on October 24. The conference attracted over 80 arbitrators and mediators from 17 countries and regions worldwide to discuss key topics such as the efficiency, fairness, and openness of international arbitration. Attorney Jin Bingyi, Director of Shanghai Runyi Law Firm, was invited to attend the conference.

In his opening remarks, Ma Jun, Vice President of the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Vice Director of SHIAC, emphasized the important role of SHIAC in advancing the professionalization and internationalization of arbitration in China. He noted that the number of international arbitration cases at SHIAC has steadily increased, case management standards have continuously improved, the arbitration rules system has been fully aligned with international practices, the diversity of arbitrators and mediators has been enriched, and international exchanges and cooperation have been deepened.

This conference marked the first time SHIAC held an arbitrators and mediators conference overseas. It aimed to establish a platform for dialogue and exchange between domestic and international arbitrators and mediators, integrate the wisdom of Chinese arbitration and international arbitration, optimize case management procedures and the arbitration rules system, serve the cross-border trade and investment needs of domestic and foreign enterprises, and continuously enhance Shanghai's cross-border arbitration service capabilities and international market competitiveness.

The successful convening of the 2024 SHIAC Arbitrators and Mediators Conference (Hong Kong Session) not only strengthened exchanges and cooperation within the global arbitration community but also laid a solid foundation for SHIAC to become a first-class arbitration institution with international influence in the Asia-Pacific region.
